On December 31, Vienna's old town will be transformed into a unique party area: from 2 p.m. in the afternoon until 2 a.m., the New Year's Eve Trail in Vienna's city center guarantees the best entertainment.
The New Year's Eve trail leads right through the first district from Freyung via Am Hof, Graben, Stephansplatz and Kärntner Straße to Neuer Markt. There will also be celebrations again this year on Rathausplatz and Riesenradplatz in the Prater.

On the largest of the eight New Year's Eve Trail stages on Rathausplatz, “Countdown Strauss” marks the official start of the Johann Strauss Year 2025. A 100-piece super band will be on stage together with professional instrumentalists. A highlight awaits visitors punctually after the last chime of the Pummerin: the musicians Ankathie Koi and Max Mutzke, accompanied by the Superband under the direction of Martin Grubinger, present a spectacular new arrangement of the world-famous Danube Waltz.

Numerous restaurateurs along the path provide culinary delights from 11 a.m. and offer food, drinks and, of course, sparkling wine to toast the New Year together at midnight.

The musical program on several stages along the path offers something for everyone. Pop and rock can be found alongside blues, funk, soul and groove. You can dance into the new year to disco sounds, Caribbean and Latin American rhythms and DJ beats. Those who prefer a more classical welcome to 2025 can look forward to stylish dance music and big bands.

If you want to ring in the new year with a successful waltz to the sound of the Pummerin, you can get tips from the professionals beforehand. In the afternoon, the Viennese dance schools offer lightning waltz courses on the Graben and transform the square into a fantastic open-air ballroom.
