Elfie Semotan & Michael Würthle

Besides portraits, Elfie Semotan has always concentrated on and reinvented the concept of the still life. Perspectives, light and the idea of structure in painting symbolise a beautiful, perfect, detailed and simple arrangement. It is in these details that the artist’s masterful eye becomes apparent. She skilfully applies her great sensibility for things that may at first glance seem trivial. Her interest in structures and graphical shapes, too – though they may not always be immediately decipherable – is underscored by her sublime perceptiveness. The gallery’s walls have been painted in the colour Savage Ground. The photographs printed in delicate and even colours have an aura of timelessness, as if they had been hanging here forever. Michel Würthle, who operates the legendary Paris Bar in Berlin, is showing a selection of his drawings and often explains himself in POETRY.
