Today contemporary art is increasingly engaged with all types of structures and the interactions between them. In this way, it forms a sophisticated reflection of the different sentiments and realities of our time. Many artists deal with ephemeral manifestations and objects which require a refined perception and approach to combinations. Interest has shifted towards more subtle, formal, manual, and gestural forms of expression. This has positive and negative dimensions as well. The frequent blurs in communication – primarily in social media – result in an abundance of repetitive gestures. Rampant self-representations engender clones of artistic production, which often generate misunderstandings and frigid moods. Art becomes a copy of the zeitgeist and a mimicry of itself.

Within these conditions, however, artistic positions can be found that achieve the freedom to reach out to their audience. That could imply that the selected artists adopt standpoints which make them vulnerable, which are perhaps inappropriate because they seem raw and overemotional. Humour can also be an element. This exhibition presents art that does not hide behind coolness or alienation tricks rather deals with all variables of the contemporary situation. The artists are invited to create process-oriented and collaborative works.
