Vienna's most beautiful summer ball is organized by the Concordia Press Club as a celebration of free journalism at Vienna City Hall on several levels - from the ballroom with the finest Viennese dance music to the disco floor in the open-air arcade courtyard.

This year's Concordia Ball celebrates the 200th birthday of the waltz king Johann Strauss Sohn. Prof. Eduard Strauss, the composer's great-grandnephew, will speak at the opening of the ball and the British composer and musician Alma Deutscher will accompany the Vienna Opera Ball Orchestra in the Strauss waltz “Feuilleton”, presented at the Concordia Ball in 1865, from the standing violin, as Johann Strauss once did at its premiere.

The members of the Strauss family have composed over 40 works dedicated to the Press Club. In the Strauss anniversary year, this tradition will be continued with the world premiere of the "New Concordia Polka - Dedicated to the Concordia Press Club" composed by Alma Deutscher.

Venue

Vienna City Hall (Wiener Rathaus)
