Fürst Igor

Fürst Igor

Direction and Stage: Thomas Schulte-Michels
Costumes: Renate Schmitzer
Choreography: Teresa Rotemberg

Premiere: 19. 3. 2016

Borodin spent a quarter of a century working on his only opera and didn’t live to finish it. The work was completed by Alexander Glazunov. Its epic choral scenes, Polovtsian dances and finely crafted characters
– the lingering Igor, the brutal Galitsky, the power politician Konchak, the turncoats Skula and Yeroshka – made "Prince Igor" the most significant Russian national opera since "Boris Godunov". (Source: Volksoper Wien)
