Max Richter: Fantasy for violin and orchestra (world premiere)

The violin was Johann Strauss' instrument of the heart: forming a physical unity full of fire and elegance, he led his orchestra and beguiled the world into dancing and exhilarating intoxication. A tribute to the 200th birthday of Vienna's demonic violinist, who always conceived his compositions from the violin, must pay tribute to this symbiosis: One of the most important violin virtuosos of our time, Anne-Sophie Mutter, is at the center of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra's birthday concert under the direction of Manfred Honeck.
