as part of ImPulsTanz 2025

A first-time guest at ImPulsTanz is internationally renowned choreographer Sasha Waltz with her colourful piece In C, set to music by the artistic pioneer Terry Riley: the revolutionary, open composition from 1964 is considered the first ever work of Minimal Music. Together with ten dancers, Sasha Waltz brings this milestone of musical history to ImPulsTanz 2025. Since its inception during the lockdowns, the piece has created its very own cosmos – from community projects in Caracas to performances with local dancers from Puna to Kharkiv. Presented with different musical ensembles, the composition will be performed live on the Burgtheater stage at ImPulsTanz by legendary Swiss post-industrial band The Young Gods.

For Sasha Waltz, In C is a deeply democratic process of dance and music: "It’s about making decisions alone and together, connecting with others, listening to and supporting each other."
