Vienna Girls Choir and Friends
Founded in 1994, the girls' choir at St. Eberhard Cathedral in Stuttgart consists of 150 girls aged between five and eighteen who sing in three different choir levels. The 33 twelve to fifteen-year-old girls from the concert choir with cathedral conductor Lydia Schimmer come to exchange ideas with the Viennese choir girls. The girls' choir and the choir girls each present the most beautiful pieces from their current repertoire, as well as some works they have worked on together.
The Vienna Girls' Choir was founded in 2004 as a counterpart to the Vienna Boys' Choir, according to whose methods they are also trained. What began with a handful of female singers is now a chamber choir of 25 dedicated young ladies aged between nine and 15 with a style all of their own.
