In 1898, Vilma von Webenau became Arnold Schönberg’s first pupil. Her pieces for string quartet are lyrical impressions combining poetry and music that were inspired by summer flowers. A new work by Korean-born Jieun Jeong will receive its world premiere: the composer, who currently lives in Graz, received the Arnold Schönberg Scholarship for Composition from the BMKÖS in 2023. The program will also include works by Elizabeth Maconchy, a highly respected figure of 20th century British music, as well as two notable contemporary composers, Johanna Doderer and Dana Cristina Probst.
