Miha Ferk, tenor saxophone
Sabina Hasanova, piano

Arnold Schönberg: Transfigured Night op. 4 (Arr. Miha Ferk, Sabina Hasanova)
Lera Auerbach: Trio for violin, tenor saxophone and piano
Alexander Zemlinsky: Piano Trio in D minor op. 3

Originally composed for clarinet, cello and piano, the Trio, op. 3 is one of the earliest works by Arnold Schönberg’s friend and teacher Alexander Zemlinsky. Inspired by the musical language of Johannes Brahms, it was composed a few years before Schönberg’s string sextet "Verklärte Nacht", op. 4, whose performance in this concert in an arrangement that includes a saxophone will lend the work a new perspective. The concert also includes the First Piano Trio by the Austrian-Russian composer Lera Auerbach, which was written soon after her arrival in New York, where she has lived since 1991.
