The 16th European Women's Handball Championship will be co-hosted by Austria, Hungary and Switzerland from November 28 to December 15, 2024. For the first time, 24 countries will take part in the European Championship.

The 24 teams will play their group matches from November 28 to December 3 in six preliminary round groups. The cities of Basel, Debrecen and Innsbruck will each host two groups. The two best-placed teams in each group (12 teams in total) will advance to the main rounds, which will be held in two groups in Vienna and Debrecen from December 4. The top three teams from each of the two main rounds will face each other on the final weekend of the EHF EURO 2024 in Vienna (December 13-15).
