In the turn of the Viennese waltz lies the alternation between looking forward in the direction in which the couple continues to dance and looking back in the direction from which they have just come. Caught between past and future, a present flickers that never stands still. Zeitenwalzer is an invitation to dance back and forth through the centuries on the Viennese Ferris wheel.

The wagons float as time capsules through almost 400 years of city history - from the 19th century, the beginnings of the Anthropocene, through the effects of industrialization and the consumer economy to a possible constructive and climate-positive future in the year 2125. With the music of Johann Strauss, visitors travel through time and change with the wagons from one century to the next. Their travel companions are figures and voices who, with their stories and performances, make sections of a long process of change visible and, with each turn of the "wheel of time", provide a view of a city that appears anew.
