Johann Strauss Sohn: choral pieces, great waltzes, polkas as well as arias, duets and ensembles from his operettas

In January 1900, the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde organized an extraordinary memorial concert in honour of Johann Strauss, the much-loved cheerful genius of the Viennese, who had died the previous year on 3 June. This memorial concert will be brought back to life - almost exactly 125 years later - under the direction of Ukrainian conductor Oksana Lyniv in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein. The program represents Strauss᾽ oeuvre in all its diversity: choral pieces, great waltzes, polkas as well as arias, duets and ensembles from his operettas.
