Operetta fans around the world know Die Fledermaus, Eine Nacht in Venedig and Der Zigeunerbaron, but these are just three of the 15 operettas created by Johann Strauss. Who knows Princess Ninetta or Simplicius? The twelve other stage works by Johann Strauss, however, contain many a musical treasure that is not inferior to the famous pieces in terms of melodic brilliance and wit. Together with Christiane Karg, Maximilian Schmitt, Mauro Peter and the Vienna Philharmonic, Franz Welser-Möst embarks on a journey of discovery into this partly unexplored operetta cosmos. The known and the unknown will be heard in this extraordinary anniversary concert!
