While waiting for the barbarians, Fortress Austria, prefigured in the former air raid shelter in Schönbornpark, can be explored scenically from April 29.
A rollercoaster of sounds, images and live actions that takes the audience on a ride through the absurd paranoia that has unfortunately become the dominant discourse of our time. So please fasten your seatbelts! It's going to be a wild ride.

The performative installation Waiting for the Barbarians takes place in a real bunker. In the depths, beneath a playground, the audience is confronted with its own fear - the fear of the Other. It is the ironic form of a "know your enemy" training camp in several stages. Who are these barbarians? Why does their arrival frighten us so much? Why do we need the imaginary barbarians to define our own goodness, culture, identity? How would we define ourselves if the barbarians no longer existed? And finally, why do we wait instead of rebuilding this paranoid empire we call home?
