Every year, the "Dance Signals" event series invites musicologists, historians, musicians and an interested general public to engage with the Strauss family and the Strauss phenomenon.

The Strauss anniversary year 2025 - the 200th birthday of Johann Strauss (son) - is intended to show how the musical legacy of Johann Strauss and his family can be authentically preserved, musically cultivated by scholars and presented in an interesting way for a wide audience and for tourism.

In 22 lectures, a round table discussion and musical examples, the “Tanz-Signalen 2025” will reveal facts, refute myths and discuss new approaches. How can Johann Strauss (son) be preserved culturally and artistically for the city of Vienna and Austria in the future, and how can his market value be increased profitably under these premises?

The symposium “Tanz-Signale 205” will take place at various locations in Vienna.
