Reading performance with musical intervention

The basis of this matinee is a surprising discovery: Throughout his life, the writer Albert Drach (1902 - 1995), who became known as a prose writer, saw himself primarily as a dramatist, without his dramas having achieved any great degree of recognition. His life circumstances - he had to flee from the National Socialist regime in Vienna and Mödling in 1938 and spend several years in exile in southern France - made it difficult for his oeuvre to be received in time, so that he only achieved literary honors relatively late. For this reason, Drach's dramatic works have remained an insider's tip. This is now to change with the new edition of the dramas as part of the study edition Albert Drach Werke in 10 volumes (fall 2022) from the Viennese publisher Paul Zsolnay. Through a targeted selection of texts, the matinee will give a foretaste of Albert Drach's dramatic texts, which are of great stylistic as well as thematic range.

Attendance at the matinee is free of charge. Please reserve a free counting card.
