The Albertina modern is dedicating a personal exhibition of around 90 works to Karl Anton Fleck (1928 - 1983). The exhibition takes up individual focal points from Karl Anton Fleck's oeuvre: While in the early sixties he used an abstract pictorial language inspired by Informel, he subsequently incorporated figurative elements with increasing frequency, resulting in surreal compositions of body and object fragments, some of which echo Pop Art. Fleck's critique of Western consumer society is evident in a series of still lifes whose titles address, for example, excess or dieting mania. Using his characteristic block letters, he often combined text and image to create "recipe poems". In the course of the 1970s, the artist increasingly portrayed himself as a hybrid between animal and human and created a rich, predominantly graphic oeuvre in which the (self-)portrait took on an increasingly central role.
