For the fourth time, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra's Prater Picnic will take place on the Kaiserwiese in the Prater and will also open the Vienna Summer of Culture - it goes without saying that Johann Strauss will set the tone in his anniversary year. Especially as Strauss was very attached to the Prater and performed there with his orchestra in the venues of the time.
The new chief conductor of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Petr Popelka, will conduct the Prater Picnic for the first time, and the brilliant double bassist Georg Breinschmid will honor Johann Strauss in his unmistakable way together with his trio. Also taking part: singer Thomas Quasthoff, who will be swinging Frank Sinatra songs into the Viennese summer sky together with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.
