Danube Island Festival 2025
Family
The 42nd Danube Island Festival takes place from 20 to 22 June: with free access to numerous stages and theme islands, with a top-class music, cabaret, action and fun program. Including: Symba, No Angels, Kim Wilde, Rag 'n' Bone Man, Conchita Wurst, Josh and a bit of Strauss.
To kick off the festival this year, there will be an opera on Thursday, June 19: the new interpretation of Bizet's classic opera Carmen retells the tragic story from a contemporary perspective under the title Killing Carmen - an opera-musical throwback. Further performances will follow in October at the Volksoper.
200 acts - 16 stages - 700 hours of program
The headliners among the 1,000 or so musicians include Berlin rapper Symba, indie pop sensation Milky Chance, noughties girl group No Angels and British pop legend Kim Wilde. Austrian pop music will be represented by Josh, songwriter Avec and the band Aut of Orda.
The US bands Steel Panther and Halestorm or Beast in Black from Finland will make the hearts of all rock fans beat faster with their beats.
Diversity is lived out on the various stages and the so-called theme islands. In addition to pop and rock music, lovers of electronic music, club culture, Wienerlied, country, Austrohits and cabaret also get their money's worth.
Strauss with Camo & Krooked
To mark the 200th birthday of Johann Strauss Sohn, there will be a special when an entire orchestra takes to the stage on Friday evening: Red Bull Symphonic - Johann Strauss 2025 Edition is the collaboration of Austrian drum'n'bass producers Camo & Krooked with composer Christian Kolonovits and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra.
Action & Fun
In addition to top-class music, there is, as always, an action and fun program with, for example, bag jump, beach volleyball, yoga and HITT workout. You can take part in handicrafts, crafting and graffiti workshops or show off your talent on the karaoke stage. Rescue dog shows, face painting, Punch and Judy shows and more await the youngest visitors.
