Lacquer, Gold and Color - The Women of Frédéric Léglise
Portraits of women by the Parisian painter, which are always in dialogue with self-portraits of the master of contemporary figurative art.
Mostly it is portraits of Asian women that Léglise depicts. His pictorial composition is very clear, sometimes astonishingly simple. In this way, Léglise is not coincidentally reminiscent of Gustav Klimt and the Vienna Secession. This becomes particularly clear in the way Léglise uses gold in addition to oil and varnish. Even the theme of crossing boundaries and bringing nudity out of the private moment into the public sphere is reminiscent of Klimt. public, is reminiscent of Klimt. His models mostly move naturally in everyday contemporary situations.
