Wien Museum MUSA exterior view

Nina Herlitschka

The artist Nina Herlitschka works across media with performance, text, drawing or music (objects), as well as site-related. The spatial anchoring and visibility of performance in the exhibition space as well as in the context of visual art is a central theme: The exhibition through performance, the performance as exhibition, the exhibition as performance.

A place to be plays on the one hand with the question of the ideal location: Where is it? Can it exist at all or is it subject to constant change? And on the other hand with the body as an exhibition space, the body as a place for presence, to be looked at and touched. How tangible can this body be? Where is contact possible? We live in a world of touch.

In the Wien Museum MUSA Startgalerie, the space becomes this body through minimal interventions, the walls become skin and the viewers become visitors, they integrate themselves into it. They are now part of the skin landscape and come into contact with the drawings in the room.
The room performs!
