Milo Rau, the new director of the festival you trust, has presented the program of the Wiener Festwochen | Freie Republik Wien to the public together with artists. The festival is reinventing itself; Vienna has a lot to look forward to - and so do the visitors. The Wiener Festwochen is launching the Second Modernism and making Vienna the capital of social art of the future: the Wiener Festwochen is founding Vienna's first art republic with an anthem, its own flag, democratic institutions and so on.

46 productions, artistic projects and participatory formats from the fields of spoken theater, opera, music, dance, performance, visual arts and activism, world and Austrian premieres are waiting to be discovered by the public between May 17 and June 23. Participatory formats form a focal point with more than 100 events with free admission.
The big names - Elfriede Jelinek, Peter Brook, Florentina Holzinger, Karl Kraus - await visitors, as do perhaps even lesser-known works. A folk play by Tim Etchells will be touring the districts, and a diesel engine will be blown up in the middle of Vienna. Tickets go on sale today.

17.5.2024: Open air at the opening on Rathausplatz. Free admission!
34 venues throughout Vienna
