From May 16 to June 22, 2025, Vienna will host a contemporary festival of the arts: The Vienna Festival will bring over 40 theater and music productions, installations and community projects, including eleven world premieres and ten in-house productions. The claim: V is for loVe! A brilliant open air with free admission will be held on Rathausplatz for the opening.

The Vienna Festival turns the whole of Vienna into a festival zone, as the 155 performances are staged at 29 different locations. 46,000 tickets are on sale, plus 16 projects without admission.

The cultural festival is in its second year under the directorship of Milo Rau. Highlights of the festival are already sold-out productions such as Burgtheater - to be seen for the first time in Vienna in a production by Milo Rau with the Burgtheater ensemble. The Last Year by the performance collective Signa and Kurdwin Ayub's play White Widow (Weiße Witwe) are also sold out.

For those still undecided, there is a program compass on the Vienna Festival website that provides event tips based on individual interests.

The pulsating heart of the Vienna Festival is the House and the Club der Republik in the Funkhaus: theory icons such as Eva Illouz debate here alongside former RAF members, world stars such as Laurie Anderson sit around the campfire with sex workers - and the SIGNA collective transforms the attic into an immersive performance installation with The Last Year.

The Pelicot Trial will bring the undoubtedly most discussed trial of recent times to the Funkhaus in cooperation with the Festival d’Avignon. The concert performance series Caravan of LUV by Elia Rediger & int int irrit combines pop culture with healing rituals. The Funkhaus is also live on air with the Free Radio of the Republic. The doors of the festival center in the Funkhaus are wide open – just drop in!
