Volksoper Wien

Volksoper – fidelio

The programme includes a total of eight successful productions, seven of them from Robert Meyer's directorship alone. With the operettas "Axel an der Himmelstür", "Die Csárdásfürstin" and "Der Zigeunerbaron", three masterpieces of this genre from recent years will be shown. Also the children's opera "Antonia and the Tearing Devil", the legendary ballet evening "Max and Moritz" and the "BaRock" opera "Vivaldi - The Fifth Season" promise a varied programme for young and old. There will also be a reunion with Klaus Maria Brandauer's 1996 production of "The Land of Smiles" with Johan Botha as Sou Chong. And hopefully the opera parody "Tannhäuser in 80 minutes", a solo evening, which Director Meyer has performed many evenings at the Volksoper together with the Neue Wiener Concert Schrammeln, will also provide a lot of cheerfulness.
