May 8 is the day of joy over the end of Nazi rule in Europe and is dedicated to the memory of the victims of Nazi persecution and extermination policies.
On this day, the Mauthausen Committee Austria invites you to the "Festival of Joy" on Vienna's Heldenplatz, which has long since become a tradition.

Mauthausen Committee Austria Chairman Willi Mernyi and Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen will open the ceremony. This year's "Festival of Joy" will once again be hosted by Katharina Stemberger.

Contemporary witness Rosa Schneeberger will appeal against forgetting in a speech and convey the importance of civil courage

As every year, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra is an integral part of the festival.
